My view of the last shuttle launch on July 8, 2011. This video was shot from outside the @NASATweetup tent in the Press Area. We are approximately 3 miles from Launch Pad.
A faulty sensor on the lanuch pad triggered an unexpected hold in the countdown at t-31 seconds. It took 2 minutes for NASA managers to clear the sensor and resume the countdown.
For us waiting, it was a nerve-wracking 120 seconds,
but eventually the countdown commenced with cheers and applause from the crowd.
